Make a gift of your securities, including stocks or bonds. By making a gift of your appreciated securities, you can avoid paying capital gains tax that you would pay if you sold these assets. As a holder of a Donor Advised Fund, (examples: Fidelity, Vanguard, Schwab, National Christian Foundation or Communities Foundation of Texas) you can recommend a grant be given to our ministry. Contact the relationship manager with your fund. There are no restrictions on the maximum number of grants that can be recommended in any given time period, and the minimum requirement is at least one grant every seven years. If you are 70 ½ or older, you can make a gift directly from your IRA without paying federal income tax on the withdrawal. The amount transferred can be used to meet your required minimum distribution. Each person can give up to $100,000 from the IRA each year. A required minimum distribution must be taken by the end of the fiscal year unless it is the first distribution of the year you turn 70 ½, in which case you have until April the following year. Research your employer to see if it is a charitable organization. Does your employer offer matching gifts? Quick check here. Some employers also make donations to match your volunteer hours. Leave a legacy for life by remembering our ministry in your will. Simply contact your attorney to add a charitable gift to your will using sample language such as: “I bequeath $___ or ___% of my estate to: Dallas Life, Inc., 6500 Greenville Ave., Suite 600 Dallas, TX 75206.”
Giving to our endowment, “Legacy for Life”, allows you to choose how your gift will be used in ministry. Like investing in a permanent savings account, the fund will support Thrive indefinitely, as only the interest earned by the fund will be spent to help the initiatives you choose.
